I've been without Facebook for 7 days now. I, along with others, am getting the "Site Maintenance" notice when logging into my account. I think I'm actually going through withdrawals over it all. I apologize to anyone whose been looking for me there. Hopefully they will have it back up soon. Until then I'll post more entries here.

Pearl Jam's Backspacer Album
What an awesome new turn for the boys from Jet City. The new Pearl Jam Album "Back Spacer" is incredible! My favorite song so far is "Amongst The Waves", obviously a tribute to his love of surfing and his time with Laird Hamilton. I'm posting the Lyrics. They're inspiring and uplifting.
The album is only available at Target and ITunes.
BUY IT!!!

Charlie Sexton back w/ Bob Dylan
Good to see Charlie Sexton (Texas Bluse-Rock Singer/Songwriter) back in the limelight. He's fronted the Arc Angels with Doyle Bramhall II. He'll be touring with Bob Dylan for a while...hopefully longer. They originally played together from 99 to 02. I loved Sexton's big 1985 album "Pictures for Pleasure". Very 80's but still good rock.
This is an earlier video with Sexton on lead guitar and B/Up vocals from You Tube.
A true Texas talent.

Friends in the Biz
I want to take time to recognize some of my friends in the VOice Over business that mean a lot to me.
Austin Keyes (AustinKeyes.com)
My best friend and an extremely talented Voice Artist. He's been the "in show" voice for many network programs including...Celebrity Apprentice, Rehab Hard Rock, and too many to mention.
Mike Carta (SuperSweepers.com)
Mike sold me my first set of studio equipment. He stills offers advice when I need it.
He's a generous guy.
Jeff McNeal (JeffMcNeal.com)
The Voice of KNBC in Los Angeles. Talented man and fun to chat with.
Christopher Webster-Unreel Media (UnreelMedia.com)
The most talented Imaging producer I know and a dear friend. He also does all my web design and upkeep as well as Austin Keyes' site.
Mike Soliday-Solid Talent Agency
Mike is my main agent in LA. He's been gracious enough to see potential in me and give me the shots I couldn't have on my own. As well as listing me next to some of the biggest in the business...Andy Geller, Scott Rummell, Tony Rodgers, and more. He's a wonderful person.
More to come...

New TV Station
I wanted to take time to welcome a new client. I'll be their station voice.
KYUU-TV or You TV, BOISE ID
They don't have their new site up yet. They are a sister station to KBCI, and they are a "Retro TV" channel. They carry all the oldies...Hogan's Heroes, Knight Rider...etc.
Welcome aboard!

HEAT! Wow!
The heat here in Jonesboro has already gotten to 100 degrees with the humidity at 70%. It's at least a 2 to 3 week long heat wave.
If it's that hot here, then anywhere south of here will be worse.
That means it's time to check on friends and older relatives that may need some relief.
Please take time to do so.
A friendly reminder from Ben Blankenship Voice Imaging....

Dirty Jobs in NorthEast Arkansas!!!

It's not often I'm "starstruck" these days. After 22 years in Radio and Voice over, I've met my share of Rock and Country stars. But today we got wind that Mike Rowe of Discovery Channel's Dirty Jobs was in town! We rushed to the press conference on the campus of Arkansas State University. Got a photo opp and took it. I was really in awe. What a nice guy. My 5 year old knows his voice the minute she hears it on TV. So I hope she'll dig the pic as well. Mike Rowe is truly connecting mainstream America to the people who perform jobs that we've never even heard of, but play a paramount roll in our everyday existence.
What I'm saying is...It was really COOOOL to meet him.
He was here to film a piece about 2 ASU grad students that wrote their thesis on Dung Beetles.
They we're comparing the beetles that live in domestic farm animal poo, to the beetles that live in imported Cow's poop. The research done on this duo's thesis project will have a great impact on the agri industry.

Back to work! Automotive Industry.
Well the long is over and it's back to work. I've been doing a lot of reading on ADWEEK.COM pertaining to the Automotive industry. Much of the voice work I've done in the past has been for the retail auto markets all across the country. The decline in that end of my business has hit hard. My prayers go out to the workers of this industry both in the factories and the showroom floors. We must remain positive in this time of trial. It too shall pass. I spoke with one dealer who said that a good month was 200 units sold, and they've been hoping to just make it to 75 units per month. This is a harsh reality they are facing. Keep this industry in your thoughts as they employ such a large amount of our population.

Memorial Day Weekend
I really don't do a lot for fun on these weekends. We (the family) just kick back or work on home projects. But, the one thing I do every year is...
Take a long moment to stop and meditate on the thanks we must give. Thanks for all the fallen heroes that truly made the ultimate sacrifice for this freedom we enjoy and breathe everyday.
Remember their gift to us all with sincere gratitude, respect, and love.
From the Blankenship family...Thank you and god bless you all.
